How to Specify a Flange: Purchaser’s Checklist
A clear flange enquiry separates material, dimensions, connection geometry and inspection. Start with the project piping class and approved drawing.

Define the component
Give flange type, NPS/DN, dimensional standard and edition, class/PN, facing and quantity. For custom pieces attach the drawing and revision; a familiar size label is not a complete geometry.
Define the material
Name the forging specification and exact grade, including class or suffix where relevant. Add heat-treatment condition and approved manufacturer restrictions. State whether substitutions require written approval.
Check every interface
For weld-neck flanges specify bore or matching pipe schedule / actual wall. For RTJ joints specify the ring designation and agreed groove details. Define gaskets, studs, nuts and coatings separately.
Define acceptance and delivery
Agree MTC type, heat-number traceability, PMI/NDT/TPI scope, tolerances and marking. State delivery city / country, required date, packing and Incoterms rule with named place.
This guide supports enquiry preparation. Use the ordered standard edition and responsible engineering review for material selection, pressure–temperature rating and joint acceptance.

Choose the connection and add your project details. No entry here confirms a pressure rating, material substitution or engineering approval.

Form entries stay in this page until you choose to share or download them; they are not saved automatically. Include gasket, stud, nut and coating specifications separately if required.
