Special-alloy buying checklist

Product form

Identify pipe, tube, fitting, flange, plate or machined component. The alloy name alone is not a product specification.

Dimensions

NPS and schedule for nominal pipe; actual OD x wall for tubing. State all end sizes, angles and drawing dimensions.

Grade & specification

Hastelloy C276; confirm exact UNS, product standard, condition and permitted construction for each line item.

Fabricated / custom items

Send approved drawings, BOM, revision, tolerances, welding and examination requirements; define included design scope.

Inspection & traceability

• Request heat / batch traceability with the ordered grade and product specification.
• State MTC type and any PMI, chemical / mechanical tests, NDT or third-party witnessing.
• Agree the inspection plan, acceptance criteria and document list before order placement.
• Request manufacturer, raw-material source and finished-product origin records where required.

Certification, testing and inspection availability depend on the product and agreed order. The catalogue illustration is not evidence of current stock or a specific manufactured item.

Use US units without losing precision

Specify NPS in inches and state the dimensional standard. For actual dimensions, include units: in / mm, ft / m or lb / kg. Nominal pipe size is not a direct measurement of OD.

Define piece length, total length, quantity and billing basis. For example, a standard or random length must be confirmed in the offer rather than assumed to be 20 feet or 6 metres.

Origin, packing & commercial scope

State any non-China, domestic-origin or approved-source restriction before quoting. Indian manufacture and non-China raw-material origin are separate requirements; both need supporting records if specified.

Include the US city / ZIP or port, requested delivery date, currency and Incoterms rule with its named place. Confirm protection, packing, freight, insurance and importer responsibilities in writing.
