FLANGES · TECHNICAL ANSWER

Are ASME Class 150 and PN16 flanges interchangeable?

No. Class 150 and PN16 belong to different flange systems with different dimensions, drilling, ratings and material rules. They may appear similar in some sizes but are not generally interchangeable.

DETAILED EXPLANATION

ASME classes are pressure-temperature rating designations. PN is a nominal-pressure designation used in EN systems.

Mating requires confirmation of outside diameter, bolt circle, holes, facing, gasket and rating.

Key points

  • Class 150: ASME B16.5/B16.47 system
  • PN16: EN 1092 system
